You know social media marketing is a valuable tool in building relationships with your customers online. You know you should be blogging and interacting on Twitter and Facebook. What you may not know is how to make the time to manage social media effectively.
If you're feeling overwhelmed by the responsibility of keeping up with the various social media marketing accounts you've created, you're not alone! There are some great social media management tools out there to help you automate the tasks and stay organized.
Most of these social media management tools have lists of capabilities that are a mile long and include the ability to schedule tweets, manage multiple accounts and create reports. In this article, we note what we think is the most unique benefit of each tool.
If you know what you want to tweet, but you don’t know when to tweet it, this is the tool for you. Spend a few minutes each day loading your tweets into Buffer, and it will automatically send them out during the day when your followers are most likely to see them. This is an extremely simple tool that only does one thing – send out your tweets when your followers will see them – but the ability to “set it and forget it” makes tweeting throughout the day much easier.
Hootsuite is a very robust tool geared toward large social media marketing teams. You can create multiple teams with different levels of access and assign tasks to teams or individuals. Though it’s a small feature compared to everything else this tool has to offer, HootSuite produces a sound effect whenever your company is @mentioned on Twitter, which can help you respond instantly to tweets that specifically mention you.
A unique feature of SocialOomph is the ability to create multiple versions of the same tweet. If you want to promote something specific for a certain period of time, but you don’t want to say the exact same thing each time, you can use this to mix up the language. This is a great way to remind customers about a promotion without sounding like a broken record!
Crowdbooster gives you recommendations about what time to tweet, and what kinds of things to tweet about based on what has worked for you in the past. It won’t come up with anything truly out of the box but it will remind you of the tweets that helped you get the most attention. That can be helpful on days when inspiration may be running a bit low!
This is an excellent all-around tool with really beautiful ad informative reports. You can see demographic information for your followers and fans and also get Twitter engagement and influence scores, which help you to see how you’re interacting online. It also lets you compare your Twitter account to another. So, if a new competitor just set up shop in your neighborhood, you can see how your growth stacks up to theirs.
The right social media management tool can help you become more productive in your social media marketing efforts. The majority of the options listed above offer free trials so don’t be afraid to test them out and see which works best for you.
