If you haven’t heard of retargeting yet, you soon will. It has been around for several years, and is an extremely affordable way for businesses of all sizes to target their customers.
What is retargeting (sometimes called remarketing)? In a nutshell, it is the ability to target Internet ads on other web sites to customers that have already visited your Web site (or a promo landing page, etc). For example… I visit your Web site, click around and leave. Later, when I am on my favorite hobby forum, I see a banner ad for your Web site reminding me of your business.
With retargeting, your banners and ads are only served to people who have previously been on your site, and you only pay when people click on the banner (not for impressions).
Retargeting is extremely effective when done properly and can accomplish several things: First, it serves as a brand reminder keeping your company top of mind. Second, it can help remind customers to complete a purchase. For example, if your site is a retail site and a customer put items in his or her cart but didn’t complete the purchase, you can offer a promotional code to encourage them to complete their purchase. Third, you can easily segment your audience based upon the areas of your Web site they visited and then run banners or ads specifically to that segment.
Retargeting is surprisingly affordable, often costing less than other comparable Internet marketing tactics. Would you like to discuss how Retargeting can grow your business? Give us a call, we’d love to help.
