It has been rumored that a Penguin update has been looming, and now it is confirmed (sort of). On September 12, Google Webmaster Trends analyst John Mueller confirmed this by stating, “My guess is yes,” and then went on, “I’m pretty confident we will have something in the reasonable future, but not today, so we’ll definitely let you know when things are happening.”
Although not a firm yes, it is about as definite as Google will be when discussing future updates.
Mueller was a little more definite when it came to what this update will encompass. He indicated that they are working on increasing the refresh rate for Penguin. This would mean that any changes made to SEO to improve performance would take effect faster. Nice to have Google using its powers for good instead of evil.
